The ball mill is a key equipment to grind the crushed materials, and the ball mill is widely used in powder-making production line including cement, silicate, new-type building material, refractory material, fertilizer, ore dressing of ferrous metal and non-ferrous metal, glass ceramics, etc. According to discharge in different ways, the ball mill can be divided into gate ball mill and overflow ball mill. The gate ball mill is enforced discharging, relatively the discharge would be coarser, but the capacity would be higher, usually the gate ball mill used for primary grinding, the overflow ball mill used for secondary grinding.
The ball mill is a horizontal rotating device transmitted by the outer gear. The materials are transferred to the grinding chamber through the quill shaft uniformly. There are ladder liner and ripple liner and different specifications of steel balls in the chamber. The centrifugal force caused by rotation of barrel brings the steel balls to a certain height and impact and grind the materials. The ground materials are discharged through the discharging board thus the grinding process is finished.

Types of Ball Mills
Ball mills can be divided into dry grinding and wet grinding. And according to the different ways of ore discharge, it can be divided into lattice and overflow types.
Lattice Ball Mill
According to different grinding methods, ball mills can be divided into dry and wet ball mills. Similarly, Lattice Ball Mills are also divided into wet Lattice Ball Mills, dry Lattice Ball Mills, and energy-saving Lattice Ball Mills.
Among them, the energy-saving lattice ball mill is improved equipment. Technical innovation is carried out based on the original equipment. The grooved annular liner is adopted to increase the contact area of the ball ore, strengthen the grinding function, and reduce energy consumption. The energy-saving can reach 20%~30 %.
Structure of Wet Energy-saving Lattice Ball Mill
Overflow Ball Mill
Overflow ball mill is a kind of mineral processing ball mill. Its name comes from its discharge mode. The discharge mode of the overflow ball mill is non forced discharge. Only when the pressure in the cylinder reaches a certain degree, and the slurry is higher than the lower edge of the hollow shaft at the discharge end will it flow out automatically. Therefore, it is more suitable for two-stage grinding with fine grinding fineness. The mill discharge is since the diameter of the hollow shaft at the discharge end is slightly larger than that at the feed end, resulting in a certain inclination of the pulp in the mill towards the discharge end. When the pulp surface height is higher than the lowest inner diameter of the discharge port, the pulp will overflow out of the mill. This is a non-forced high-level discharge; discharge speed is slow, so the retention time of ore in the machine is long, the effective role of the medium is low. So overflow type ball mill over grinding is serious, the processing capacity is also lower than the same specification of lattice type. It is generally suitable for fine grinding or second grinding in two-stage grinding.
Structure
The main part of the overflow ball mill is a cylinder with a small diameter and large length. In addition to the cylinder, the structure of the equipment also includes the cylinder, feeding part, discharging part, transmission part, main bearing, circulating lubrication system, and so on.
