Slurry Agitation Tank Mixing Tank

An agitation tank is a standard pretreatment and slurry conditioning device in mineral processing. Its core function is to mechanically agitate the slurry (a mixture of mineral particles and water) and added reagents to maintain uniform suspension and sufficient contact, creating stable and ideal conditions for subsequent separation operations (especially flotation).

Working Principle

The slurry and reagents are continuously fed into the tank, where a high-speed rotating impeller transfers mechanical energy to the fluid, generating strong axial and radial circulating flow. This force keeps the solid particles suspended and forces the reagents to collide and contact the surfaces of the mineral particles, thus achieving rapid and uniform mixing and reaction.

Main Classifications and Application Scenarios

Based on their specific roles in the process, they can be divided into:

1. Reagent Mixing Tank: Primarily used before flotation. Adding and mixing all flotation reagents (collectors, frothers, modifiers, etc.) here is a crucial step determining the flotation effect.

2. Slurry Mixing Tank: Primarily used for homogenizing the slurry. For example, after grinding, before flotation, or at the junction of different products, ensuring the stability of the slurry properties.

3. Lifting Mixing Tank: A special design whose impeller not only mixes but also generates a certain head, lifting the slurry to a certain height for gravity flow to subsequent equipment, eliminating the need for an intermediate pump.
